20 Things to Do in Koh Yao Noi
Koh Yao Noi is a small paradise island in Thailand, perfect for those seeking peace and nature. This little island stole our hearts: it was the best place of everywhere we visited in Thailand during our 2 months there.
That’s why we consider Koh Yao Noi a must-stop in Thailand, and here are 20 activities to help you enjoy it even more than we did.
1. Try fresh coconut at Bang Bro Coconut 🥥
This spot is tucked away in an unusual area of the island. It’s a small house with a garden run by a lovely lady who cuts the coconuts directly from the tree.
They’re delicious and incredibly fresh. There’s nothing better than drinking a freshly cut coconut.
➡️ Bring cash, it’s 40 THB per coconut.
2. Walk when the tide is low 🌊🚶
In this part of the island, when the tide goes out, the landscape completely changes. Perfect for spotting starfish and shells.
You can also take the chance to enjoy the nearby Stella Restaurant on the beach, which is excellent.
➡️ The tide is usually low around 1 PM here.
3. Paddle to Nok Island by kayak 🛶
This activity is an adventure for the brave. The island isn’t very far from the Koh Yao Noi coast, but it’s an intense challenge. Expect to paddle for 25 to 40 minutes depending on the tide. But if you make it, you’ll have a paradise island completely to yourself.
Tell me, how many times have you been on a completely empty island? Well, this is your chance.
➡️ Watch out for currents and tide movements.
4. Discover Klong Jark Beach 🏝️
This is the main beach of Koh Yao Noi. Even though it’s one of the more visited spots on the island, it remains extremely quiet. You’ll practically have it to yourself, with everything you need nearby: restaurants, massage options, snacks, and more. It’s a beautiful and peaceful beach with a small port and stunning traditional boats.
➡️ Go in the morning to have it all to yourself.
5. Have lunch at Ni Local Kitchen 🍽️
The best restaurant you’ll find on the island, and our personal favourite for meals. It’s a small restaurant run by a lady and her son, where you’ll eat the best pasta in Thailand while watching chickens and cats play in the garden. The lady cooks right in front of you: it’s an incredible experience.
➡️ Order the pasta, you can choose your type!
6. Take a cooking class at Lok Mun Herbal Spa and Restaurant 🍳🌿
Learn to cook Thai dishes with fresh and local ingredients in a relaxing setting.
➡️ Ideal to take a piece of Thailand home with you.
7. Buy souvenirs in front of 7-Eleven 🎁
Across from 7-Eleven, several shops sell souvenirs. Same owner, same prices everywhere, so no need to bargain.
➡️ You can negotiate, but buy multiple items for a better discount!
8. Have breakfast by the sea 🌅
Many restaurants along the beach offer a relaxing vibe and stunning views.
➡️ Go to Long Beach for an amazing experience!
9. Hike up to Hornbill View Point 🏞️
A stunning viewpoint, with a short 10-minute hike.
➡️ Easy to access, don’t miss it!
10. Spend a day on a boat with friends ⛵
For 800 THB per person, enjoy a relaxing day on a boat with a local driver who takes you anywhere you want.
➡️ Do it from this island, you won’t find a better price elsewhere (book on-site).

13. Watch the sunset 🌇
Head to Buffalo Bar or Sunset Bar for a spectacular view.
➡️ Check the sky before going to ensure it’s clear!
